Madrid - Summer Holidays!
You plan to spend your summer holidays in Madrid? Be aware that
in the summer Madrid becomes very hot, often close to 40 degrees
Celsius. During the day the city falls into sleep. It is almost
like an extended siesta during the summertime to escape the heat.
Between mid July the end of August Hotels often provide guest with
special discounts to fill up their accommodation vacancies. In that
period even the Madrileños feel too hot in the city and
usually go away to the countryside or the coast in Spain. Madrileños
would close many of the Restaurants, Bars, Cafes, tourist attractions
and businesses. The positive flipside is that the city is particularly
calm and relaxed in August and July, with less traffic and tourists.
So if you do not mind the heat Madrid is by all means a hot spot
for a summer holiday. When the sun is about to go down, Madrid will
awake and become lively again. Basically Madrid transforms into
a nocturnal city. So don’t be surprised when at 4 am the traffic
is jammed when the Madrileños tying to find their homes again.
